Today’s guest is a digital media graduate. He has marketing experience going back to 2011. Now you’ll telling me Martin, that doesn’t sound like very much we’ve had people with 50 years experience, why are you bringing us somebody with 11 years of experience? Well, we will find out. In 2011, he founded a business called Fruitful Digital. So he was kind of entrepreneurial at that point. He then worked for other people for three, years engaged in paid social paid advertising, paid digital type stuff, before he founded his next business Circulate Digital till in 2014. He is joint host of the podcast, the daily hustle, which you will find on Spotify. He was recommended to us by Martin Hayman, who tells me that he and his brother have really scaled their business, Circulate Digital. The first question is, then how are you qualified to talk to us about running a digital marketing agency? And especially then I’m interested in this idea of company culture, company culture is probably one of the things that I struggled with. But firstly, how are you qualified to talk to us about running a digital marketing agency?
Matt Daley 9:31
Fantastic. So I think in terms of my qualification behind running a digital agency, obviously, I’ve almost been running my agency now for eight years. It’s been it’s been a really exciting time and it’s been full of ups and downs. I think what we’ve learned over those years is really about how to do it effectively. An agency is all about people. So it’s really about how do you engage with those people in the right way to you know, get the best results. I’m a big believer that the people that you have in your business, the happier they are, the better the results are going to be. So I think like, we’ve got like some of the best results, we have actually won the best digital campaign 2021 in the NPAs. Last year. I think our company culture has been something which has really stuck out and actually gets talked about a lot when we’re we’re talking to people, because it’s, it’s something we’re really passionate about. So I think in terms of like, why am I qualified? I think it’s because we’ve ticked a lot of boxes, but also we’ve gone beyond just ticking boxes as well, we really care about that.

Okay, super cool. There are two offices, am I right? Is there one in Manchester and one in Barcelona, how many people are involved in the agency?
Matt Daley 10:45
Well, actually, we’ve got three offices, but the one out here is kind of remote. I’m out in Barcelona and then we’ve got a team over in Sheffield, which is a bit smaller now, it’s our content marketing team and then you’ve got our technical paid delivery team over in Manchester. So we’ve got Barcelona, Sheffield and Manchester the way our business actually works we have a technical delivery team. In our Sheffield team, we’ve got a small content marketing team and that’s where my co-founder is positioned. Over in Manchester, we’ve got a technical delivery team and they really make sure that our digital ads are really, really working efficiently and driving the best results. So it’s really important they work together.

Okay, so the agency is paid social, is that what the agency is or is it more than that?
Matt Daley 11:55
We’re a digital ads agency, our primary focus is digital ads. So we focus more so on Facebook ads, Instagram ads, Spotify ads, Amazon ads, Google ads, obviously. Then it’s got the content marketing spin, which comes into it as well, which kind of highlights a bit around SEO?

Okay, cool. Right. So this thing about culture is really important. I was really interested in it, and I just never got it right.
